SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES

The Special Education Department offers a wide range of services to qualified individuals. These include support in general education classes, instruction in study skills, classes taught by the Special Education Department staff members, and full-time instruction within Special Education. More information concerning these services is available through the Counseling Office or from any member of the Special Education Department.

L.I.N.K.S.

Course Description: Peer to Peer Course Credit Program focuses on assisting special needs students with socialization, independence, and age appropriate behavior. Our goal is to spread awareness not only to students in the LINKS course but the whole community. The student enrolled in LINKS will be a mentor, role model, and friend to a student with a special need. The LINK student will attend LINK Case Conferences to discuss the progress of their student, and contribute ideas on how to more effectively help the student with special needs to progress toward his/her goals.

Name of Course: Peer to Peer Support LINKS Introduction 

LINKS Introduction Peer to Peer Course Credit focuses on assisting students with disabilities with socialization, independence, and age appropriate behavior. The student enrolled in LINKS will begin learning how to be a mentor, role model, and friend to a student with a disability. The LINK student will have opportunities to discuss the progress of the student they support and contribute ideas on how to more effectively help the student progress toward his/her goals.  


1st Semester Taken



Name of Course: Peer to Peer Support LINKS Intermediate 

LINKS Intermediate Peer to Peer Course Credit focuses on assisting students with disabilities with socialization, independence, and age appropriate behavior. The student enrolled in LINKS will continue to learn strategies to grow their knowledge base and understanding. They will continue to be a mentor, role model, and friend to a student with a disability. The LINK student will have opportunities to discuss the progress of the student they support and contribute ideas on how to more effectively help the student progress toward his/her goals.  


2nd Semester Taken



Name of Course: Peer to Peer Support LINKS Certified 

LINKS Certified Peer to Peer Course Credit focuses on assisting students with disabilities with socialization, independence, and age appropriate behavior. The student enrolled in LINKS will be well versed in strategies to help them be a more effective LINK. Students in LINKS Certified will focus on leadership skills where they will have the opportunity to formulate a plan of action, influence other students with their ideas, and lead others through planning of a capstone project. They will continue to be a mentor, role model, and friend to a student with a disability. The LINK student will have opportunities to discuss the progress of the student they support and contribute ideas on how to more effectively help the student progress toward his/her goals.
